B2B and B2G electronic invoicing requirements
Electronic invoicing is mandatory for all suppliers to federal government entities.
Active Since January 1, 2026
All VAT-registered businesses must accept structured electronic invoices.
A common question from Belgian businesses: why do large international companies like Amazon, Google, GoDaddy, Microsoft, or Apple still send PDF invoices instead of structured electronic invoices?
The Belgian B2B e-invoicing mandate only applies to VAT-registered businesses established in Belgium. Companies headquartered in other countries (Ireland, Luxembourg, USA, etc.) are not subject to Belgian e-invoicing requirements.
| Company | Invoices From | Belgian Mandate Applies? |
|---|---|---|
| Ireland | No | |
| Amazon AWS | Luxembourg | No |
| Apple | Ireland | No |
| Microsoft | Ireland | No |
| Belgian supplier | Belgium | Yes (since 2026) |
